| Happy Holidays Everyone! | |
| It's holiday time and have you decided what to get your Greyhound? How about another Greyhound? We are getting a shipment of Greyhounds on January 14th from Arizona. If you are interested in adopting a second or can foster, let me know as soon as possible as we have to get them tested, spayed/neutered and teeth cleaned before coming. It would be a wonderful way to start the new year. In the past several years, we have received quite a few applications in January. This way, we will have Greys ready to go. |

| Take Your Grey to Work! | |
| Heard from Ronene Anderson who adopted Nike from us. Nike goes to work with her every day at the winery that her family owns. Ronene conducts tours and Nike goes right along with her "up to the cave." He is quite the ambassador. Way to go Nike. | |

New Placement Representative
|
|
| Congratulations to Antje Cornick, our newest placement rep in the Gilroy-Hollister area. Antje and her husband Gary and their girls set up a show and tell in Hollister and are ready to get out there and promote our wonderful Greyhounds. | |
| Poinsettia Warning | |
| Don't forget that poinsettias are poisonous. Also, the poison control number for animals is 1-800-548-2423. This is a very good number to have on hand. We have just lost several of our Greys to poisons and several others have gotten sick. You never know what they will pick up. | |
| Holiday Wrapping Tally | |
| This year, we wrapped presents at both Barnes and Noble in Santa Clara and at Borders, Santana Row in San Jose. We raised close to $300.00. Next year, if you have either or both of these stores near you and you love to wrap presents, you might want to contact them in about September and see if you can volunteer. It is lots of fun to do. We even were lucky enough to get an adoption out of one of the days. Thank you to all of you who helped wrap. It was great seeing you. Don't forget to check our web site for upcoming events and to link to National to see what is going on across the country. |

| Solvang Greyhound Gathering | |
| The Solvang Greyhound Fest is coming up fast. It takes place on Feb. 24th, 25th and 26th, 2006, in Solvang, California. Last year was so much fun and this year will be bigger and better than ever. Don't wait until the last minute to make reservations. The hotels are filling up fast. Go to Solvang Greyhound Fest for information and reservations. We have a big group from our organization going this year. Would love for you to join in on the fun and festivities. | |
| Traveling Any Time Soon? | |
| If you're traveling in the near future, make your reservations at Greyhound Bark. Jon and Alonso will take excellent care of your Grey pups while your gone. | |

| New Adoptions | |
| Nine of our twelve adoptions are for second or third or fourth Greyhounds. Jack & Darlene Morris of Cottonwood, adopted Mooch as a companion for Donder. Both boys are white and look very striking together. Darlene reports that they are getting along just fine. Carol & Clint Rodgers of Paso Robles, adopted Jenny (Brinks Jenny) as a companion to their Greyhound. Carol was given a "doggy shower" by her friends where she works. Jenny is well equipped with lots of toys and treats and stuff. Angela Vanderslik of Visalia, adopted Anubis (Picard). Anubis is now living with a Shepard/Chow female, a female Pug, a rag doll male cat and a parrot. Angela calls them "my children" which I love since I consider my Greys "my kids." Paul & Chelsey Marashian of Fresno, adopted Franklin (Cagey Carter) as a friend to their little girl Greyhound, Meadow. Meadow and Franklin are doing well together. Georgina & Bennett Fuller adopted Pepper (Shata Ribbon) as a companion for their 12 year old Greyhound, Tiger Lilly. They have had Tiger Lilly so long that they had to learn all over about how easily Greyhounds can slip away when a door is left open. All ended well and Pepper is settling in just fine. Enrica Lucatello and Mitchell Peterson of Santa Clara, adopted Pharaoh (Matador). Enrica reports that Pharaoh still hasn't gone upstairs. Why should he? He has a heated dog bed downstairs. Lucky boy. Kelly & Jac Stone of San Martin, adopted our special needs girl, Fancy. Fancy is the Grey who came to us with a dislocated hip. Dr. Sharon Gottfried operated on her and fixed her hip. She now runs and hops around beautifully. Fancy joins their other three female Greys. Thank you Kelly & Jac, for giving her a wonderful new life. (I'd also like to thank the Oakes who offered their home to Fancy.) Ken & Sheila Smith of Campbell, adopted their second Greyhound, Samantha (Brinks Attitude). Sammy is Speedo's (The Bump) new sister. Speedo is a beautiful blue boy. This is what Sheila wrote about her: "When she first came she definitely had an "Attitude." But now we've decided she must have been dropped on her head as a puppy. HA She's a total nut case! Throws her toys all around, runs and jumps on her bed, rolls over kicks her legs up in the air and then starts again. She looks like a flying squirrel running through the house! We hear her start to play about 5:00 a.m. every morning. You'd think she was a child on Christmas morning - every morning. But the good thing is they've all left the Xmas tree alone (so far)." Sounds like a happy little girl to me. Sherrlyn & Tom, Thomas, Nick and Michael Lancaster along with Gromit of San Jose, adopted Holly (G Pup). Holly is Sherrlyn's Christmas present from Tom and he totally surprised her. Instead of waiting until Christmas day, he snuck in with her after work. Holly and Gromit are getting along just fine and the Lancasters are learning what fun having a young girl is. Holly is only 18 months old and tiny. Gary & Antje Cornick and daughters Alisha and Shannon of Hollister adopted Jami (HDM Jami) as a companion for Gifford, their male Greyhound. Jami is a very sweet little black female who has a huge fan club as she loves everybody. Gary and Antje met her when we brought her down for a Show & Tell in Hollister the first part of December. I knew they would fall in love with her and Gifford did too. The rest is history. Catherine Kara & Chris Ells of Santa Cruz have adopted Suzi (Cd's Suzi Cue). Carol Herron and Antje Cornick are the placement reps for this adoption. They took Suzi with them, hoping that she would be a good match. Catherine couldn't believe that she could keep her. It was definitely meant to be. Carol Herron of Monterey and Kiowa adopted Leggs (Leggs Railroad). Leggs is a huge boy who will probably top out at 100 lbs. His racing weight was 90 lbs. Carol takes him jogging on the beach and he runs beautifully, right beside her. Leggs also is a major sweet boy. All who meet him want one just like him. Thank you to all for giving these Greyhounds wonderful "forever homes." |
