| HAPPY HOWL-A-DAYS HOUND HANDLERS! AND SEASONS GREETINGS GREYHOUND GANG! | |
| Have you finished all your shopping yet? Do you have someone who loves your Greyhound but you just can't think of something to give them. How about a donation to our organization in their name? Okay, that was a shameless pitch but we really do need you to help us right now. We are starting the "Georgia Fund." It seems that one of our recent fosters has a taste for jewelry. Georgia ate a bracelet. The whole thing. She passed most of the hard beads but the string that held it together wrapped around her insides causing a major blockage. $1123.00 worth of surgery later, she is now back to normal, happy, healthy and adopted. This came at the same time that we took in a severely neglected Greyhound in the Modesto area. He has kidney problems and has needed over $500.00 worth of medical care so far. We have another "bounce" that will need extensive dental work. Also, the bill for fixing our "dog hauler" came in at $982.00. Needless to say, our resources are sadly depleted and we could use some help. We are a non-profit organization so you can write off any donation you send on your taxes. If you wish to send a donation, send it to Greyhound Adoption California, 1582 Wright Avenue, Sunnyvale, Ca. 94087. Thank you in advance for your generosity. | |

| Christmas Gift Wrapping | |
| We, in the San Jose area, did the gift wrapping at Barnes & Noble again this year. This is a wonderful way to raise money and promote our wonderful Greyhounds. Borders also does the same thing. If any of you live near either of these bookstores, you may want to contact them about volunteering our organization for next year. If you like to wrap presents, this is definitely for you. We raised over $300.00 this year. Thank you to Sherrlyn Lancaster and Jennifer Morales who did most of the wrapping. Also Amy Rubin, Ellen Hubler and Rachel Mittler who helped. | |
| GACA Media Exposure | |
| Also, in our never ending effort to get the word out about how wonderful our Greyhounds are, Scott and I traveled to Greenfield, Ca. to do a 90 second spot on KSBW, Monterey for Greyhounds. We drove 4 hours for our 90 seconds of fame. It was "greyt" fun as everyone was amazed at how sweet they are. We took all five of our Greys, Scottie, Winks, Shadow, Sprocket and Becca. They behaved beautifully and hammed it up for the camera. The following Monday, Scott and I did an hour long radio show, Animal Companions with Deborah Bodine. This was also in the Monterey area. Both of these events were fun to do and really helped to promote adopting a retired racing Greyhound. | |
| Christmas Gift Ideas | |
| If you still have Christmas shopping to do, GPA National now has shopping on their web site. Check it out. Meanwhile, we still have lots of t-shirts, sweatshirts, calendars, decals, bumper stickers and hats. Contact Delene Dunne. We can no longer guarantee shipping before Christmas but, after Christmas definitely. | |
| Christmas and New Years Wishes | |
| We, the Board of Directors of Greyhound Pets of America - Northern California/Greyhound Adoption California, would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year and thank you all for giving wonderful homes to retired racing Greyhounds. As you look at your Grey(s), so warm and pampered, remember, there are still thousands who need homes. All of your efforts to help us in any way with your time and/or money, is gratefully appreciated.

| New Adoptions | |
| We have 7 adoptions to report. Sylvia Olson has adopted Derby. Finally Dawn, her fawn Grey, found a boy she could get along with. Not to say that Dawn is picky, but this is the last of many that Sylvia has tried to introduce into their home. Julie and Brett Lane adopted Jillian. Jillian's new family consists of a male miniature poodle, a male standard poodle and 2 cats. All have adjusted to each other beautifully. Ibrahim and Maria Poroy adopted Jackson. Jackson is lucky to now live in Pacific Grove which is very dog friendly. He is one very spoiled boy. Timothy Shortnacy adopted Georgia as a companion to his other female Greyhound, Kate. Both are white with brindle patches. Yes, this is the Georgia who ate the bracelet. Needless to say, Tim is keeping everything up out of her reach. Deanna and Justin Lewis adopted shy Finn. Deanna has allergies to many breeds and she was delighted to find out that Greyhounds weren't one of them. Chris and Devora Davis adopted Piper (Hunter). Hunter is a talker and is telling them all about being a Greyhound. Colleen Cahill adopted Cisco (Money). Colleen is very knowledgeable about dogs and now she is learning how wonderful Greyhounds are from Cisco Thank you all for giving a retired racing Greyhound a wonderful new "forever home." |
